Anne’s Pastoral Care Thoughts for March 2023
Be still and know that I am GOD. In stillness I sought you. In stillness I felt you. In stillness I heard you. In stillness I smelt you. In stillness I touched you. In stillness I saw you. In stillness I praised you. In the insects and the tiger lily I saw you. In the grass and the handshake, I touched you. In the roses and the cooking, I smelt you. In the laughter and the bird songs I heard you. In the sunshine and the breeze, I felt you. I sought you, GOD, I praised you. All creation enfolded me and I knew YOU in Stillness –
A book “Seeing Christ In Others” and written by -Carys Humphreys Wales/Taiwan
March is oftentimes a “blah” month. Winter, we hope is coming to a close, but the cold is still with us, and the days are unpredictable. Our winter season seems long when we aren’t able to travel, visit with friends, walk outside, get away from the cold, and it often brings about loneliness.
The above reading reminds me that even though I may feel lonely, even though with the winter months behind me, I still may not be able to venture far from my home because of unexpected weather, I remind myself that God is in the stillness. God is everywhere. Any thought that I have, any person that I meet, any part of creation that surrounds me- God is there. I may feel lonely at times but I am not alone.
Spring is right around the corner, but for now get out the puzzle you haven’t opened yet. Call a friend, invite a neighbor over for coffee/tea, go through the Christmas letters you received in your Christmas cards that you set aside, find that craft project you always wanted to do, take this month to get out your photo albums and reminisce.
Be Still and Know that I am God.
Be still and Know that I am.
Be still and Know.
Be still.
Be.
